PURPOSE:To attain optimum aperture control in each of image pickup modes by revising the aperture control depending on the changeover between the standard image pickup mode and the high resolution image pickup mode. CONSTITUTION:When the standard image pickup mode is set, an image pickup optical system 30 is made up of a front group lens 32, a 2-blade aperture 35, a post group lens 33, a crystal LPF 36 and an IR cut-filter 37. When the high resolution mode is selected and set, the crystal LPF 36 is escaped at the outside of an optical path and an optical path length correction plate 38 is inserted in an image pickup optical path. Then the aperture 30 is made open and a fixed aperture 34 with a circular opening is inserted in the image pickup optical path. Thus, diffraction or the like caused by the aperture shape in the high resolution image pickup mode is prevented, and a picture with high quality without deterioration is obtained. |
