PURPOSE: To provide an improved system for use in an electric terminal applicator, for cutting terminals press-fit to a tape away from the tape. CONSTITUTION: An electric terminal applicator 10 is used for press-fitting terminals 24 to an electric wire 90. The terminals are fixed to a tape 26 in a laterally aligned manner to the tape. An applicator ram 14 is adapted to move along a first path A to move press-fitting dies 18 and 20 toward or away from a press-fitting anvil 22. A track 32 is adapted to move along the second path B generally crossing the first path of the ram to guide the tape. The track has a platen 34 and a guide plate 36, which define a pair of opposed clamp jaws for holding the tape therebetween at both surfaces thereof and pulling the tape sideward across the second path. The tape is moved relatively away from the dies in the press-fit state in the anvil and on engaging with the terminals press-fit to thus cut those terminals away therefrom. |
