Monocarboxylic acid amides of formula R-CO-NH-R<1> (I) are new. In (I), R = 9-19C alkyl, alkenyl or alkadienyl, or a gp. of formula (i) or (ii) (with R<2> = H or 1-4C alkyl; R<3> = H or OH; and at least one R<3> = OH); R<1> = -CH2-Phe-CH2-NH2, a gp. of formula (iii) or (iv), -Cyc-CH2-Cyc-NH2, -Cyc-CH2-A-CH2-Cyc-NH2 or -Cyc-CH2-Ar-CH2-Cyc-NH2 (with Phe = 1,3-phenylene; Cyc = 1,4-cyclohexylene; A = 4- or 6-amino-1,3-cyclohexylene; and Ar = 4- or 6-amino-1,3-phenylene). Also claimed are epoxy resin hardeners contg. cpd(s). (I). Further claimed are hardenable mixts. contg. (a) an epoxy resin with more than one 1,2-epoxide gp. and (b) a cpd. (I), and moulded prods. or coatings obtd. by hardening such mixts. |
