A collapsible, portable heater has a reflector 2 focusing solar energy, e.g. to cook food in container 8 or to heat water, e.g. for a swimming pool. The reflector may be collapsed about fold lines, and the tubular support 7 may fold. The reflector may be of aluminium, and may be electroplated on a base layer of plastics or paper.
