<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a new 4-trifluoromethylpyridine derivative which is useful as a herbicide, particularly manifesting high herbicidal effect against a variety of annual weeds in rice plant paddies and fields. CONSTITUTION:4-Trifluoromethylpyridine derivative of formula I [X is a halogen, H, a lower alkoxy; R<1> is H, a lower alkoxycarbonyl; R<2> is a lower alkanesulfonyl, benzenesulfonyl, -CO-R<3> (R<3> is an alkyl, phenyl, pyridyl, furyl, thienyl, amino, a lower dialkylamino)], for example, N-(6-chloro-4- trifluoromethyl-2-pyridyloxy)acetamide. The compound of formula I is obtained by reaction of a compound of formula II with an acid halide of the formula: Hal-R<2> (Hal is halogen). 4-Trifluoromethylpyridine derivative of formula III in the compounds of formula I is prepared by reaction of a compound of formula IV with a hydroxamic acid of the formula: HONHCOR<3>.</p> |
