A printing apparatus reads a given image and prints the read-out image through a simple manual operation. An image sensor (24) and an image printer (43) are placed inside the main unit (11). After the image on a manuscript (2) has been read by the movement of the main unit (11), the read-out image is stored in an image data memory (107). The image stored in the image data memory (107) is read out and printed on a printing medium (32) in a tape cartridge (31).
