PURPOSE: To provide a trigger discharge type plasma display element and a method for manufacturing the element. CONSTITUTION: A trigger electrode 70 formed on a back plate 20 is constituted of a first layer in the whole surface and a stripe like second layer as to have uneven surface structure and a dielectric layer 40 is formed on the upper part of the trigger electrode as to have uneven surface structure. Then, cathodes 60 are formed on the dielectric layer 40 while a constant gap being kept between the bottom faces of the grooves of the uneven surface structure and the cathodes 60. Consequently, even in the case the distance of neighboring cathodes 60 is narrowed, sufficient spaces are surely retained between the trigger electrode 70 and the cathodes 60. |
