PURPOSE:To protect a battery and maintain the operation of an electric load when the abnormality of the battery in which the battery is not to be charged occurs. CONSTITUTION:The detected values of an abnormality detecting sensor 22 and a current sensor 24 are inputted to a charge controller 40 for the charge of a battery B mounted on an electric vehicle 20. If it is decided that the battery B is normal, the detected value of the current sensor 24 is fedback to adjust a power control unit 42 so as to have an optimum charging current supplied to the battery B. If abnormality of the battery B or the full-charge state in which the battery B is not to be charged is detected, an output power from the power control unit 42 is so controlled as to have the detected value of the current sensor 24 approximately '0'. Therefore, a power which is supplied to the fan 32, etc., of the electric vehicle 20 is supplied directly from the charging controller 40 and the battery B which is in an abnormal state or in a full- charge state is not discharged nor charged. |
