PURPOSE:To improve the separating efficiency of a supercritical fluid chromatographic separator and to prevent the oxidation and decomposition of a liquid to be separated by mixing a moving phase in the liquid to be separated as a supercritical fluid and heating the mixed phase to a prescribed temperature. CONSTITUTION:A liquid CO2 from a liquid CO2 cylinder 1 is cooled and pressurized to its critical pressure or higher and a required solvent from a solvent tank 4 is pressurized to the same pressure as that of the liquid CO2 and mixed with the liquid CO2. Then the moving phase of a supercritical fluid is produced by heating the mixture to, for example, 30-80 deg.C by means of a first heater 6. On the other hand, a liquid to be separated containing a highly unsaturated fatty acid is heated to a temperature which is nearly equal to that of the moving phase and a fixed amount of the liquid is maintained by sending the liquid to a sample room 14 from a tank 12 of liquid to be separated. Then the moving phase is uniformly mixed with the liquid to be separated by supplying the phase to a loop 14 and the mixture is sent to a second heater 16. The heater 16 heats the mixed phase to, preferably, 50-100 deg.C and supplies the heated mixed phase to a separation column 17. The column 17 performs chromatographic separation on the mixed phase at every component and an aimed component is recovered to a preparative isolation container 23 after separately discharging a carbon dioxide fluid from the divided component by means of a separator 22. |
