PURPOSE:To execute works along a steep curve in good performance by dividing a shield excavator into the front, middle, and rear drums, fitting the tail of front drum and the head of rear drum to the middle drum part whose periphery is shaped spherically, and coupling the two end parts by direction correcting jacks. CONSTITUTION:At the time of executing works along a straight line, four jacks for correcting the direction are all elongated to an equal length and used in the same manner as a usual shield excavator 1. At the time of executing works along a curved line, on the other hand, that of the jacks 4 which is situated on the side to which the excavator 1 is to be directed, is put in the shrunk condition, while the jack 4 on the opposite side is elongated. The front drum 2 and rear drum 3 are bent with a middle drum part 6 having a spherical periphery interposed so that the machine responds well to a steep curving while the middle drum part 6 serves as the axis of bending, which is supported by this structure where the whole machine is divided into three fragments. At curving, the width of the segment 13 on the inside lessens extraordinally, and the center position shifts backward, which can however be well responded to by sliding a segment erector backward using a propelling jack 9. |
