Residual fixing force determn. method for riveted thin-wall components

The method involves using pressure sensors suitably dimensioned to permit their insertion between the components/testpieces. During, e.g. a blind-rivetting process, the sensors transmit the compressive force (F) generated as a result of the deflection of the flexible materials being jointed. The deflection of the materials takes place within their elastic limits. On completion of the rivet deformation phase, followed by shearing of the rivet stem, the display indicates the residual force imposed by the rivet on the RHS of the peak.
