PURPOSE:To obtain an industrial antimicrobial agent for paper and pulp by combining a nitrilopropionamide compound known as an industrial antimicrobial agent with 3,3,4,4-tetrachlorotetrahydrothiophene-1,1-dioxide and a specific isothiazolone compound. CONSTITUTION:This industrial antimicrobial agent is produced by combining a nitrilopropionamide compound of formula I (R<1> is H or a lower alkyl; X is a halogen; Y is H or a halogen) with 3,3,4,4-tetrachlorotetrahydrothiophene-1,1- dioxide of formula II and an isothiazolone compound of formula III (R<2> is H or a hydrocarbon group; R<3> and R<4> each is H or a halogen). The antimicrobial agent has high safety, extremely broad antimicrobial spectrum to remarkably expand the controllable range of microorganisms and excellent antimicrobial effect. It can be used especially in a water system of paper and pulp industry, e.g. the waste water of paper-making industry such as white water and the circulating cooling water in various industrial fields. It can be used further in a water-based coating, a paper-coating liquid, a latex, etc. |
