PURPOSE:To provide an ultrasonic probe whose structure is simple and in which observation can be performed from the neighborhood of the probe to a long distance by a high resolution and the depth of the focus is deep. CONSTITUTION:E.g. when a concave sound lens 2 and a convex ultrasonic mirror 3 are combined with each other as ultrasonic convergence elements provided on an ultrasonic oscillator 1, they are arranged in such a way that the distance between the convex mirror and the sound lens 2 on the sound axis is shorter than the focus distance of the sound lens 2. At the stage where sound wave is emitted from the probe 10, the ultrasonic beam is sufficiently converged when the beam passes through a sound window and it becomes a beam being parallel to the sound window. When a sound lens 2 with a small aperture is used, it is focused in the neighborhood of the probe and is diffused far away, but the beam focused by means of the sound lens 2 can be corrected to a beam being close to be parallel to the sound axis by using the convex mirror 3. The beam shape is improved and the whole beam diameter is thin and the resolution is high regardless of the distance from the probe. |
