摘要 PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of utilization of ion and consequently record high quality image at high speed by a method wherein the diameter of the opening part for ion discharging hole provided in electrode on the ion generating source side of the ion flow controlling electrode of a recording head is set within the specified range. CONSTITUTION:The reason why the efficiency of utilization of ion flow is changed by the width of an ion flow controlling electrode is the electrification of the surface 16 of an electrical insulator on the ion generating source side by being caught with some part of the ion flow 14 flowing from an ion generating source to the ion flow controlling electrode. As a result, the repulsive force is applied to the ion flow 14 to the direction of an ion discharging hole 17 due to the effect of the electrification of the surface of the electrical insulator so as to throttle the ion flow. Since the throttling effect changes with the distance between the surface 16 of the insulator and the ion discharging hole 17, the efficiency of utilization of ion is regarded as to change with the width of the electrode 15 on the ion generating source side. By seeking the relation between the width of the electrode 15 on the ion generating source side and the efficiency of utilization of ion through calculation by simulation and experiment, the existence of the optimum values in the width of the electrode and the diameter of the ion discharging hole is proved.
