PURPOSE: To drive a fastening element into a base material more deeply without increasing the weight and size of a device by improving the driving device for driving the fastening element into the base material. CONSTITUTION: This driving device for driving a fastening element 40 into a base material U is provided with a housing 1 having a through bore 3, a channel 5 and a guide member 8. A driving means 2 having a guide tube 9 and a ram 7 is arranged axially displaceably along the guide member 8. Axial displacement of the driving means 2 is transferred to a displaceable slider 6 in the channel 5 of the housing 1 via a control element. The slider 6 is provided on a magazine 11 coupled with the housing 1 by a quick disconnect fitting, and the slider 6 cooperates with a separation device 12 in the form of a spring- loaded pawl.
