<p>A process for preparing 6-substituted 1,1,3,3-tetramethyl-1-H-2,3-dihydro-pyrrolo-[3,4-c]-pyridines, of general formulaI <CHEM> in which R can be an aryl containing up to 12 carbon atoms, or CH2R min where R min is an aryl of up to 12 carbon atoms or CH2R sec where R min is an alkyl or aralkyl containing up to 20 carbon atoms, including branched, -OH, -NH2 (including alkyl or acyl substituted), -CN or COOR<IV> where R<IV> is an alkyl containing up to 4 carbon atoms, consisting of reacting a tetramethyl-substituted dipropargylamine with nitriles, in an excess of the nitrile - which is possibly also used as the solvent - at a temperature of between 50 and 150 DEG C, in the presence of a catalyst prepared by the in-situ reduction of CoCl, with manganese or zinc dust, or by treating Raney cobait with thiourea, and the products thus obtained.</p> |
