PURPOSE: To remarkably reduce required memory capacity and required calculation capacity in a transmission system for transmitting audio and musical signals. CONSTITUTION: In the transmission system for transmitting audio and musical signals, an input signal is divided into two spectrum sections by a coder. These spectrum sections are respectively coded by original subordinate coders. At a 1st subordinate coder 64, the envelope of transmission signal is determined and this envelope is compared with several reference envelopes. The identification code of reference envelope most corresponding to the current envelope is transmitted to a receiver 6. Based on the identification code, a regenerative signal is generated by a decoder 72 existent at the receiver 6 and that signal has the envelope corresponding to the reference envelope. |
