LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY PANEL AND ITS PRODUCTION

摘要

PURPOSE:To provide a liquid crystal display panel which is not subjected to a rubbing treatment and with which good liquid crystal orientability is obtd. without requiring heating and cooling at the time of injection of liquid crystals. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal layer clamped between a pair of substrates is a chiral nematiic phase having positive dielectric anisotropy. Plural regions 7 to 10 where the molecular major axis directions 6 of liquid crystal molecules orient in a microscopically uniform direction exist in this layer. In addition, the molecular major axis directions exist differently among the respective regions 7 to 10 and the liquid crystal molecules exhibit a twist orientation state between a pair of the substrates within the respective regions 7 to 10 so that the value obtd. by dividing the anchoring intensity by a twist elastic constant attains <=5mum<-1>.
