<p>A load transmitting connector, e.g. for a crane, has an apertured part 14 to receive a winch cable, and a cavity defining an abutment 38. A load cable 104, with termination 106, is inserted through a side slot (i.e. from the right as shown) into the cavity to engage abutment 38. A lever 62, 68 is pivotable to the dot-dash position to close the side slot, and held there by a spring-loaded detent (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown), thus preventing release of cable 104. The connector is thus smooth and snag-free under load. <IMAGE></p> |
