A THIN PRINTING PAPER AND A PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING SAID PAPER

A wood-containing bible paper weighing less than 49 g/m2 is provided with a surface pigmentation that contains as pigment a mixture of a swellable stratified silicate (Na-bentonite) and other usual coating pigments, and as binder only a natural organic binder, essentially starch. Even with little glazing, this paper is equally suitable for printing by heliorotogravure and by a rotary offset press. In addition, this bible paper preferably contains a certain proportion of treated used paper fibres.
