Chip card reader with fraudulent manipulation detection

The chip card reader has a number of lines (8) for coupling the inserted chip card (2) with a processing stage (14), with a HF signal inductively coupled to these lines via a transformer (9). A detection and evaluation device (13), inductively coupled to the transformer, detects a capacitance difference indicating manipulation of the chip card. Pref. the HF signal is provided by a generator winding (10) inductively coupled to the transformer with a detection winding (11) for inductive coupling of the detection and evaluation device.
