摘要 Analysis (esp. organic carbon determination) of a particle-contg. aq. sample involves sample injection and combustion in a first combustion space, combustion gas interaction with a catalyst associated with a second combustion space, water sepn. and gas feed to a detector. The novelty is that analysis of a quantity (esp. greater than 1 ml) of an aq. sample is carried out by (a) injecting a unit amount of sample into a vertically extending combustion space; (b) switching on a heater, associated with this first combustion space, to effect heating to 1000<0> C and evapn. and combustion of the sample, followed by switching off the heater after complete combustion of the sample and cooling the combustion space; and (c) subjecting the combustion gases to heat treatment at 800-950<0> C during passage through a catalyst arranged in a second horizontally extending combustion space. Also claimed is an appts. for carrying out the above process.
