The backrest (1) has a loading opening having a hinged door (3) which is lockable in a closed sate by a locking member (5). The rear of the backrest has positioning handles (6) which are adjustable. The hinged door is automatically locked by the locking member when it is guided from an open state to a closed state. The automatic locking is preferably carried out by a sprung support or by operation of the handles. The locking member is composed of two sliding bolts (7) which are slidably held in the backrest or in a frame part (8) of the hinged door. The bolts are operated by swing levers (9) which are swung by the rotary positioning handles. The bolts engage into corresponding recesses in the hinged door.
