The proposal is for a device and a process for the automated optical testing of an eccentric rotary component to be tested. The eccentric component is rotated about a spindle by a contactless measuring process with a source generating parallel beams and a detector arrangement, in which the detector arrangement is given a movement synchronised with the rotation in such a way that the distance towards an optical axis between the eccentric component and the detector arrangement remains constant. It is thus possible to prevent the optical distortions otherwise occurring in the optical measuring process.
