<p>A method of treating hypovolemic shock and related shock syndromes by the administration of substantially non-anticoagulant heparinoids without the hemorrhaging problems generally associated with heparin is disclosed. Such syndromes include degradation of the microvascular structure, immune and gastrointestinal tract dysfunction, and multiple organ failure. The figure shows changes in mean arterial pressure (MAP) and heart rate (HR) in sham-operated, normal saline-treated, heparin-treated, and 2-0-desulfated non-anticoagulant-heparin-treated rats after the initiation of crystalloid resuscitation.</p> |
