发明名称 THERMAL TRANSFER MATERIAL
摘要 PURPOSE:To improve gradation properties, color reproducibility and resolving power by applying a hot-melt ink layer with specific melt viscosity on a base material with specific thickness in specific coating quantity to form a thermal transfer material having specific thickness. CONSTITUTION:A yellow, magenta or cyan hot-melt ink layer 3 with melt viscosity of 20-200cps/90 deg.C is applied to a base material 2 with a thickness of 1.0-4.5mum in coating quantity of 0.5-2.5g/m<2> to form a thermal transfer material 1 of which the whole thickness is 2.5-7.0mum. This thermal transfer material suppresses the diffusion of heat energy in a surface direction from a heating element as low as possible and can transfer ink in an area as near as possible to that of the heating element. At the time of use, the thermal transfer material 1 and an image receiving material 4 are superposed one upon another and pressed to a platen P by a thermal head T to be heated. Whereupon, the ink of the heated area is melted to penetrate into pores 5 by a capillary phenomenon. Subsequently, the thermal transfer material 1 and the image receiving material 4 are separated.
