PURPOSE:To search a route after predicting the passing time of an intersection based on the turning direction, the variation of road type, and the number at crossing roads thereat. CONSTITUTION:The invention is applied to a route guide for comprising an orientation sensor 1, a vehicle speed sensor 2, a map memory 3, a CPU 4, a ROM 5, a RAM 6, an operating board 7, a V-RAM 8, and a display 9. The CPU 4 reads in intersection information from the map memory, determines a coefficient corresponding to the advancing or turning direction of vehicle at the intersection, a coefficient corresponding to the difference in the type of roads entering and leaving the intersection, and a coefficient corresponding to the number of crossing roads at each intersection, and then operates a predicted passing time of intersection based on these coefficients. The CPU 4 determines a route between a current position and a goal requiring a shortest time according to Dijkstra's algorithm using the predicted passing time of intersection. |
