A device for stringing a racquet with longitudinal (2) and transverse (3) strings, comprising a base, at least one longitudinal member (11, 12), a plurality of modules (13, 14, 15) each having a base (16) translatably movable on the longitudinal member, a hooking arm (17) which engages a longitudinal string (2) and is movable perpendicularly to the longitudinal member (11, 12) into a recess in the base, where it can be in an inoperative position and in a pulling position in which it pulls the longitudinal string (2), a tab (20) with one end (21) comprising a guide groove (22) open on at least three sides and having an axis (26) parallel to the axis (27, 28) of the longitudinal member (11, 12), said groove receiving a transverse string (3), and an assembly for operably connecting the tab (20) with the base (16).
