The prosthesis consists of a core (51) of a synthetic material with an allo-graft layer (52) wound round it, the latter being covered for at least part of its length by a mesh retaining layer (53) without mechanical properties. The prosthesis is equipped at one end with a tibial bone pin and at the other with a traction element - coated with an anti-friction material - to which the mesh layer is connected. The core of the prosthesis has a diameter of between 3 and 7mm and the mesh layer a thickness of 0.2-1mm, giving an overall diameter of some 9mm. The core and/or the mesh layer can be made from a bioresorbable material with a resorption period of 18-36 months with the resorption period of the mesh layer shorter than that of the core.
