The vibrator comprises a rotating assembly (1) consisting of a linearly displaceable mass (3) housed in a cylinder (2). A fluidic system (12,13) is connected to one of the cylinder ends and allows displacement of the mass from an equilibrium position to one of dis-equilibrium. A drive (4,5) rotates the assembly about an axis (A-A) passing through the centre of the assembly. A fixed mass (8), whose centre off gravity is located at a distance from the axis of rotation, is located at the other end of the cylinder and has a weight equal to that of the movable mass. The assembly has a gas chamber filled with a compressed gas next to the middle part of the cylinder. The gas chamber is connected to the other end of the cylinder.
