Bearing unit for support rolls in hot dip bath

Support rolls (8) in a hot dip bath have roller bearing units (11) surrounding the roll axis (13) made up of a bearing body (18a) with inner (15) and outer (14) ring runners surrounding the ball bearings (16). The separate parts of the unit are made of a material which has low wettability w.r.t. the molten metal bath. The roll bearing unit parts are made of isostatically hot pressed sintered silicon nitride contg. 0.1-2 wt.% MgO, 0.2-3.5 CeO2, and 0.1-2 SrO with a total additive content of 1.5-5 wt.%. The bearing unit also has a cage (26) also made of a material with low wettability w.r.t. the metal bath.
