<p>A backer board (10) provides a base to which ceramic tile (38) may be bonded for use in a bathtub or shower area, the board being made by forming a gypsum core board (20) with fiber glass laminated composite facings (22, 24) which include an inner fiber glass scrim (28), an outer fiber glass non-woven mat (30) and an acrylic film (32), which film is formed of an acrylic latex of a class commonly employed as an ingredient in Portland cement mortar for applying ceramic tile, such a mortar (40) being used to bond tile (38) to the base board (10).</p> |
