PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetoresistive sensor element, without forming a plurality of layers by using an alloy in which a ferromagnetic body particle being precipitated spinodally is embedded and by setting one side of the ferromagnetic particle to a specific dimension. CONSTITUTION: A magnetoresistive alloy part 11 on a substrate part 21 is cut from a magnetoresistive alloy body 10 on a substrate body 20 that is larger than the alloy part. The magnetoresistive alloy part 11 is formed by a thin, uniform layer of an alloy containing a sufficient number of ferromagnetic body particles that are precipitated spinodally. In this case, the one side of the particle is approximately 0.01μm or less and a magnetoresistance, namely the magnetoresistance of the magntoresistive alloy part 11, is much lager than the case where no particle precipitating spinodally exists, namely where only rougher particles exist. The thickness of one side is preferably equal to or less than 0.005μm, thus forming a more accurate magntoresistive body by containing the spinodally precipitated particles in the metal matrix.
