When an inner jib 24 is raised about a pivot 26 by a rope 38, a rope 62 is paid out round sheaves 42, so that an outer jib is able to rotate clockwise about a pivot 28 to the position shown in chain-dotted lines in Fig. 1. The jib is supported in the operative position by hinged ties 66, 68 and is held in its inoperative position by a latch 64. In the raised position a hinged link 32 limits rotation of the outer jib about the pivot 28. The rope 62 passes round a pair of equalizer pulleys on the superstructure 13 and has its ends anchored to the inner end of the outer jib.
