Dimension measuring device for rotationally symmetrical objects

The measuring device has a rotation cylinder (2) for receiving the object to be measured, rotated about its axis via a drive (4, 5) with detection of the momentary angular position of the cylinder. An optoelectronic scanning device (1, 9) detects the contour of successive linear sections or sectors of the object, with a processor for combining the contour information with the position information for calculating the object dimensions. Pref. the scanning device uses an illumination source (9) and a camera (1) arranged along a common axis on either side of the rotation cylinder, with the cylinder axis parallel to the optical axis.
