An image forming apparatus is equipped with a registering device (8) to make a copy paper (P) temporally waiting before the copy paper is conveyed to transfer section so that the transfer on the copy sheet is in synchronization with the working of the image forming section. When the copy paper is kept waiting, an electric resistance of the recording member is measured by pinch convoyance rollers (7). An image forming condition transfer or separating is determined in accordance with the measurement result.
