PURPOSE:To provide a method for producing a dielectric ceramic composition having desired characteristics by calcining and sintering a simple composition in a prescribed temperature range. CONSTITUTION:This composition is obtained by mixing bismuth oxide powder with niobium oxide powder so as to give the composition formula xBi2O3(1-x) Nb2O5 [0.494<=(x)<=0.496], calcining the mixture at 700-900 deg.C to produce calcined powder, grounding the calcined powder, forming the ground powder in a prescribed form and then baking the formed articles at 975-1030 deg.C. The calcined powder contains Nb2O5, Bi2O3.Nb2O5 (orthorhombic system) and 5Bi2O3.3Nb2O5 (tetragonal system) and contains no Bi2O3 (monoclinic system) and the sintered compact contains Bi2O3.Nb2O5 (orthorhombic system) and 5Bi2O3.3Nb2O5 (tetragonal system) and contains no Bi2O3 (monoclinic system) and Bi2O3.Nb2O5 (triclinic system). |
