PURPOSE:To eliminate the need of providing a shutter member for shielding a laser beam path by providing a means for attenuating a laser beam, when the beam is radiated with an image carrier positioned outside a mounting position. CONSTITUTION:A gap 15a is formed between a transfer roller 4 and a guide plate 3d, so that when a laser beam is radiated from a laser generator 1a with a process cartridge B demounted, the laser beam reflected with a reflective mirror 1c passes the gap 15a. A laser beam attenuation member 15b is laid below the gap 15a and the inner bottom thereof is inclined relative to the incident direction of the laser beam. According to this construction, even when a laser beam is irradiated due to malfunction with the cartridge B demounted, the laser beam enters the member 15b via a slit 15c and attenuates, while repeating reflection therein. |
