A toroidal temporary retaining device is inserted between the tube bundle (9) and the internal surface of the tube bundle wrapper (4). It is made of at least 2 sealed elastic envelopes (18a, 18b) filled with an inflation substance e.g. gas, liq. or polymerisable material. These inflated envelopes (18a, 18b) are joined together by adjustable connections.
