PURPOSE:To provide a fusion splicing machine capable of surely fixing plural pieces of optical fibers constituting a multifiber optical fiber cable into V- grooves. CONSTITUTION:This fusion splicing machine has a V-groove block 13 provided with the plural V-grooves 14 for positioning the optical fibers 12 on a plane and a pressing means for fixing the optical fibers by pressing the optical fibers 12 positioned at this V-groove block 13 and fusion splices the optical fibers 12 by disposing the end faces of plural pieces of the optical fibers 12 opposite to each other. The pressing means has a brush-like object 15 having flexible wire-shaped bodies 16 and is constructed to press the wire-shaped bodies 16 to the V-grooves 14. |
