PURPOSE:To solve the problem of generation of ozone by an electrostatic charging roller and to improve the substantial durability of this electrostatic charging roller. CONSTITUTION:The electrostatic charging roller A provided with an elastic layer consisting of epichlorhydrin rubber and a surface layer consisting of a nonadhesive resin on an arbor is recovered from a device body and the surface layer is ground when the number of image forming copies attains a prescribed value in order to use the electrostatic charging roller A over a long period of time. The electrostatic charging roller is regenerated and used after the surface layer is recoated. The electrostatic charging roller A is recovered from the device body and after the surface layer is cleaned, the electrostatic charging roller is remounted at the device body and is used. The electrostatic charging roller A is otherwise recovered from the device body and after the surface layer thereof is cleaned, a lubricating oil additive is applied thereon and the roller is remounted at the device body. |
