Sorting arrangement

The arrangement has a separating mechanism and a checking device for the material (2) to be sorted. The checking arrangement has a radiation source (11) directed at the material, at least one detector (13) of electrical radiation connected to an evaluation device. The evaluation device compares actual and desired signals to produce a control signal for a sorter. The checking arrangement contains a spectrometer (14) with its signal input supplied by the radiation receiver, which is directed towards the radiation emitted by the source and incident upon the material. The spectrum of the radiation is trimmed at at least one edge of the visual spectrum. The source can be arranged on the opposite side of the material carrier from the receiver to enable transmission measurements to be conducted.
