<p>PURPOSE:To provide a master cylinder that has good responsiveness by preventing a time lag before a valve opens. CONSTITUTION:This master cylinder includes a valve mechanism V which, when a piston 13 is in its non-operating position, opens a communicating hole 13b and which when the piston is in its operating position closes the communicating hole to generate hydraulic pressure within a pressure chamber, with the valve mechanism having a valve element 22 capable of closing the communicating hole and a spring 24 for pressing the valve element in a direction to abut the opening of the communicating hole. The master cylinder also includes a valve member 23 which has both a metallic ring 23b located in the portion of the valve element abutting the opening of the communicating hole or in the opening of the communicating hole and having a through hole 23a axially penetrating it and a first elastic member 23c located on the outer periphery of the metallic ring and projecting beyond the axial end face of the ring.</p> |
