A mixer for rubber has a pair of rotors with heliooidal blades 1a arranged to circulate the mix round the container 3, the core diameter 1b of the rotors increasing in the conveying direction. The blades may stop short leaving a gap 10 to avoid pressure, build-up against the end well 11; there may be a scraper blade 13 in the gap. Alternatively the pitch of the blade may be reversed a short distance from the end, see Fig. 3 (not shown). The rotors may rotate in the same or opposite directions at the same or different speeds. The loading and discharge arrangements are those of a Banbury mixer (see Fig. 1, not shown).</p> |
