PURPOSE:To provide an endoscope apparatus wherein when an endoscope provided with a curving mechanism inserted into a trocar is pulled out of the trocar, the curved curving part is returned to a straight condition. CONSTITUTION:An endoscope apparatus 1 is constituted of a trocal 2, endoscope 3 inserted into a body cavity through this trocal 2, a light source apparatus illuminating a part to be examined, a video processor 31a converting electric signals of the part to be examined picked up by an observational optical system 31 to video signals, a monitor 7 displaying an image of a body to the pictured of the part to be examined converted to the video signals by means of a video processor 31a and a controlling part 9 provided with a belowdescribed means 8 for returning a curved part to straight. A contacting element 5 wherein a protruding part 5b is formed in such a way that when the base end 37a of the curved part approaches the apex end 2a of the trocar, it is separated from a trocar position detecting sensor 6 is arranged on the rear end 2b of the trocar 2.
