PURPOSE:To provide a thick steel plate excellent for the laser beam cuttability where thicker plates can be stably cut by specifying the surface roughness of the scale of the steel plate to make the smooth surface scale. CONSTITUTION:The surface roughness of the scale of the steel plate is set to <=3.0 micron in center line average roughness (Ra) by selecting appropriate heating and rolling conditions in the rolling process. If the center line average roughness is <=1 micron, further effect can be obtained. For this purpose, the heating and rolling conditions of the steel plate are controlled to appropriate values. The steel contains 0.10-0.30wt.%Cu. This constitution provides the scale surface which seems to contain much smooth and black FeO, thus giving thick steel plate excellent for laser beam sectility. |
