<p>PURPOSE:To manufacture a sealed nickel hydride storage battery having a long life by effectively suppressing the expansion of a positive electrode at the time of the initial charge immediately after an electrolyte is injected into the battery. CONSTITUTION:This sealed nickel hydride storage battery is combined with a metal oxide positive electrode mainly made of a nickel oxide, a negative electrode made of a hydrogen storage alloy or a hydride, and an electrolyte mainly made of a potassium hydroxide aqueous solution. Lithium hydroxide is added to the electrolyte, the electrolyte is injected, then the initial charge is applied to the electrochemical capacity of 50-150% of the positive electrode.</p> |
