PURPOSE:To decrease irregular display contrast which will occur in the feature by using a polyimide oriented film as the oriented film of the display element, and sealing a liquid crystal and then irradiating with UV rays. CONSTITUTION:The edges of a pair of substrates having electrodes are sealed with a sealing material a liquid crystal is sealed between the substrates. In this case, the oriented film which is in contact with the liquid crystal is a polyimide oriented film. After the liquid crystal is sealed, the liquid crystal is irradiated with UV rays. The irradiation energy of UV rays is specified to 200 to 2000mJ. When a liquid crystal display element in which a liquid crystal is sealed is not left to stand for a long time but is irradiated with UV rays, a part of the liquid crystal is decomposed and uniformly adsorbed to a part of the polyimide oriented film where the film has strong adsorptivity. Thereby, adsorption of impurities intrinsic to the liquid crystal to a specified part to cause irregular threshold voltage can be prevented. As a result, by irradiating with UV rays, irregular contrast in the display which will occur in the future is decreased so that a problem of degradation of appearance is reduced. |
