Adsorbent material useful as animal litter

Adsorbent material comprising a pelleted or granulated mixt. of cellulose fibres and at least 20 wt. % mineral components, the pellets or granular particles being coated with a mineral flour contg. Na- or Ca bentonite. Also claimed is prepn. of the above material. Pref. the mineral flour coating may contain up to 49% additives such as binders, odour improvers, colourants fertilizers and/or acceptors. The bentonite may be mixed e.g. with sawdust and/or with materials of the carboxy-methylcellulose (CMC) type. Pref. the pellets or granules have a particle size of less than 8 mm.
