A bobbin supply appts. for spooling comprises an inclined track (70) where bobbins roll in at one end and are released at the other to a gripper (71) which moves between a bobbin capture position (75) and a transfer position (76). These positions mark the intersections of the path traced by a bobbin axis going firstly from track to gripper and then from gripper to spool lever (91). Here the gripper is set at the free end of a swivel lever (72) where at capture and transfer positions its self-opening jaws (73) operate in conjunction with a force (74) tending to close the jaws.
